Description
Why We Like Them:
These striking black-and-yellow snails are valued for their ability to reach deep crevices in rockwork where other cleanup crew members can’t. Their small size lets them hunt down pests and leftover food hidden in tight spaces.
Primary Use:
Targeted pest control. Often kept to help manage nuisance organisms such as vermetid snails, pest worms, and other hitchhikers that settle within rockwork.
Diet:
Carnivorous. Feeds on small invertebrates, pest worms, leftover meaty foods, and detritus. In systems with limited natural prey they may consume other small snails or polychaete worms unless their diet is supplemented.
Where You'll See Them:
Most often working within rock crevices or along the sand bed. They may also burrow lightly into the substrate while foraging.
Macroalgae Safe:
Yes. Bumble Bee Snails do not consume macroalgae.
Ease of Care:
Moderate. Best kept in established aquariums with natural prey or occasional supplemental feeding.
Native Range:
Indo-Pacific reef environments.
